If you were a Mega Driver back in the day (or Genesis-er if you live Stateside) then you ll know Sonic 2 was the best Sonic. The original Sonic the Hedgehog introduced the concept and set the tone, whilst Sonic 3 tried too hard with its dodgy boss melodies and pain-in-the-arse bonus levels. Anything after that was mince. Sega has decided to use its mobile ports of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 to resolve a somewhat obscure piece of its own history. The Remastered version includes the "Hidden Palace Zone," a stage that was cut from the original 1992 classic. Sonic 2 Remastered hits Android today, and a free update on iOS will turn the existing Sonic 2 release to its Remastered version.
